Modeling & Simulation of Switched Capacitor Multilevel Inverter Flying Capacitor

Implementation Plan:

Step 1: Initially, we will construct the EV charging system in Simulink including a 3-DC source and the reconfigurable switched capacitor (RSC),  BESS and Grid.

Step 2: Then, we will integrate the adaptive flying capacitor voltage clamping (AFCVC) mechanism and self-commutating polarity selection network (SCPSN) using 10 active switches in the Simulink model.

Step 3: Next, we will integrate the inverter to generate a 13-level multilevel output voltage waveform.

Step 4: Then, we will implement PWM switching and dual-mode charging control for slow and fast EV charging operations.

Step 5: Next, we will simulate the system to collect data such as Power, SOC, Current, Voltage, Duty.

Step 6: Then, we will analyze the system performance based on THD, voltage balancing, charging performance, and efficiency.

Step 7: Finally, we will plot and evaluate the performance characteristics for the following:

7.1: Time vs Voltage (V)

7.2: Time vs Current (A)

7.3: Time vs Flying Capacitor Voltage (V)

7.5: Time vs SOC (%)

7.6: Time vs THD (%)

Software Requirements:

  1. Development Tool: MATLAB R2023a/Simulink or above
  2. Operating System: Windows-10 (64-bit) or above
